From the Prologue: "In August 1889, The Ladies of the Church of Our Saviour modestly issued "Tried Receipts," a mere nibble at our local cookery. In August 1926, the Ladies' Guild, more ambitious, published "Lebanon Valley Cookery." Today's Guild offers this new book, confident that many who cannot come ahorseback or awheel to the board we spread, may yet wish to feast with us in the Valley of Lebanon."
