Kitchen Work Issue 9: Home Cooking
From soup to nuts—from the conception of the colors, textures, smells, and flavors of a plate of food, through the procuring of ingredients, the preparation of a mise en place, and the culmination of merging complementary threads to the amalgam of a sumptuous whole—the gifts of making food are not only too precious to ignore; they are the very staff of life on this planet.
kitchen work is an independently published literary journal focused on food, drink, dining, and gathering. You’ll find stories from big and small kitchens, pantries and wine cellars, farms and gardens, dining rooms and cafeterias. The publication has featured writers from states all around the U.S., and from eight different countries. It is a pleasure to hold and to read, while sitting at the kitchen table, in an armchair, or on a picnic blanket.
