Mizanplas began in 2015 as a blog devoted to food and wine — not through the language of experts, but through the eyes of travellers, eaters, and storytellers. Over time, it evolved with every journey, every glass, every bite.
In 2025, Mizanplas took on a new form: a magazine-book that explores food and wine as culture, memory, and movement. Designed in collaboration with Tokyo-based studio Kkultur, it pairs narrative depth with visual clarity, turning each issue into both a source of ideas and a piece of design to live with. Mizanplas writes about food and wine as experiences that shape who we are — inviting readers not just to understand them, but to seek, to taste, and to go.
Two countries. Two tables. One shared language of pleasure.

In its debut issue, Mizanplas journeys between Japan and Spain, tracing how food and wine carry emotion, memory, and meaning across cultures. It moves from quiet kitchens to long lunches, from the stillness of a ritual to the warmth of a shared table, collecting the moments that turn a meal into memory. Together, these pages form an invitation to see the world through taste: to slow down, to listen, and to savour.

Inside, you’ll find stories that linger: travel guides to Madrid and Sapporo written with awe instead of efficiency; a visit to the Sherry region’s new generation of producers rewriting tradition; a portrait of López de Heredia, where a family’s devotion to fine wines defies time and trend in Rioja; an ode to Japan’s jazz kissas, where strangers sit in silence, finding connection in the crackle of vinyl; “Umami in Wine,” an encounter with Japan’s most philosophical winemaker in the hills of Hokkaido; and “Wine Notes,” a tasting section that trades numbers for memory.
