A fascinating glimpse of life and food in the Amana Colonies of east-central Iowa. The colony was founded in 1855 by Radical Pietists escaping persecution in Germany. Black & white photos of the community accompany short essays and a handful of recipes with a palpable German flair. 

Some yellowing from age but otherwise in great condition.
